Fixed Sleep if removing nullcpupowermanagement same as 10.5.8 - but CPU gets hot At least on my mobo GA x58 UD5.
This is not a solution yet! Your CPU gets overheated and causes System Performance decrease. Benchmarks will go down remarkably. Geekbench64 drops from 11500 to 10400. Xbench from 240 to 180. In 10.5.8 and 10.6 you will have to live without sleep for the moment. Loading AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement is just a hint for the devs to find a solution. A modified kext or a possibility to inject P-States into the Powermanagement like Apple does. Last edited by aschar1; 08-09-2009 at 07:59 AM. |

Sharing and Permissions.
A note for this step...
- Navigate to the folder with this line cd /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ DVD/system/installation/packages/ - Open the installer with this one open OSInstall.mpkg You must use this or your permissions will be incorrect after all the install process: Code:
sudo chown 0:0 /Volumes/Snow # substitute whatever you called your volume in place of Snow |

Hi, im trying to follow steps on page 1 and
Step 4 Install dsmos.kext and Disabler.kext and into your Snow Leopard partition using OSx86 Tools, or a Terminal Command line: the download package(v2) doesnt include dsmos.kext but does include Disabler.kext is the dsmos.kext hiding in one of the links on the first page? (btw seems to have been updated multiple times and it kind of a mess) or did it somehow disappear during one of the updates? Either way until i have the appropriate dsmos.kext i think im stuck. Thx! |

@drunknbass
hi, I installed build 10a380 quite easily, but that was when the updates on page1 were at 2, and the pages about 20, total. There's been alot of SL builds, and alot of questions/discussion since then. Build 10a421 broke the 64bit dsmos.kext everyone was using at the time. The workaround files for 10a421 wont help till you upgrade to it, I assume your starting with 10a380. You'll find 64bit dsmos and other files/utilities here: http://www.projectsnow.net/index.php...-32-or-64-bit/ http://www.applelife.ru/mac_os_x_10_..._pc/19090.html Grae Asus 8800GTS 640mb graphics, Gigabyte ga-ex38-dq6 MB, Intel Q9450 2.66ghz CPU, Corsair Dominator 4gb, Seagate SATA 3x500gb, ATA 120gb drives, LG Blu/dvd, Dell 24" monitor, Leo 10.5.8, SL, Vista64, Win7 rc, VMware Fusion Last edited by graebags; 08-09-2009 at 04:30 PM. |

also do kext permissions matter when they are on the usb in /Extra/Extensions ? im having a hard time fixing them how you normally would and recieve "Operation not permitted" when i try to chown -R root:wheel on that folder.
im trying this under 10.5.6 so im not sure if thats why. when i boot SL i get a kernal panic after like 30 sec so im guessing the permissions would be 1 reason why EDIT.... so i have messed around and gotten sl to boot and seems to run stable in 64bit mode. i still need to run a command to make a Extensions.mkext for all the stuff i have in my Extra/Extensions but trying it on 10.5.6 had many errors.. maybe i need to try it on snow leopard to work right? Also i think i need to make a 64bit kext for my ethernet since its not working.. my mobo is a Asus Maximus Formula v.1 and i think the lan is Marvel Yukon 88E8056 Also i added the EFI string for my video card (nVidia Geforce 7950GT 512mb) and it works. I also dled the 64 bit VooDooHDA.kext but i dont think its loaded since i havent regenerated my Extensions.mkext yet EDIT 2.... So after i copy my appleyukon2.kext to the snow leopads networking kext location i can boot in 32bit mode and get ethernet.. so i need to know if there is a simple way to alter the snow leopard kext to insert my device and keep it working in 64bit. Actually id like to know the proper way i can do this without modifying the original kext and keep the one i need to load in /Extra so i can have a completly self contained USB dongle to boot a fresh SL install. i have always modified the actual kexts in the past and i think that is the really old way(ad harder to maintain) of doing things. Any pointers would be appreciated! Last edited by drunknbass; 08-10-2009 at 12:55 AM. |
