Download:

Latest Psystar Rebel EFI

Note: I know that Psystar Rebel EFI / DUBL is not welcome in OSX86 Community but i will use this method since Empire EFI did not work for me.

  1. Burn it on a cd.
  2. Boot your pc with the cd in the drive.
  3. When DUBL has loaded choose OSX Install.
  4. Replace your DUBL cd with SL Retail DVD.
  5. After OSX Install has loaded:
    -
    • Choose language and click on the arrow.
    • Click on Utilities on the tool bar, then select Disk Utilities.
    • On the left you should see your hard drive.
    • If not, a disk is not connected or cannot be read by your computer.
    • After selecting your hard drive click on Partition.
    • Under Volume Scheme, click current and select 1 partition.
    • Under Volume Information, name your hard drive.
    • Format: Free Space
    • Click Apply
    • Click Partition
    • After selecting your hard drive click on Partition.
    • Under Volume Scheme, click current and select 1 partition.
    • Under Volume Information, name your hard drive.
    • Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    • At the bottom of the window Click on the Options Button.
    • Select the GUID Partition Table
    • Click OK
    • Click Apply
    • Click Partition
    • Quit Disk Utilities
    • Click on the HDD you want to install OSX to.
    • Select customize, deselect printers and languages from the list.
    -
  6. Click on your HDD and select customize and unstick printers and languages from the list (If you don't need them).
  7. Install OSX:
    Quote:
Note: It will say say that install failed near the end of installation, just ignore it and restart.
  8. Use DUBL cd to boot into OSX HDD.
  9. When booted into OSX:
    __
  10. Restart OSX.
  11. Enable GFX card:
    _
    • Go to Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and replace com.apple.boot.plist with the one from my package.
    or
    • Edit com.apple.boot.plist and add to it:
    • <key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
    • <string>yes</string>
    • Save
    • Reboot for Effect to take Change.
    _
  12. Enjoy.
Optional:
  • Install AppleIntelPIIXATA (IOATAFamily) kext to S/L/E.
  • Install AHCI Fix Package (Orage HDD icon fix).
  • Install other drivers, for wireless etc.
  • Download & Install NTFS3G if you want write support for NTFS drives.
Hardware:

Sound - Works Fully
Ethernet - Works
Wifi - Note Tested
Firewire - Not Tested

Additional Hardware:

GFX NV8600GT 256MB - Works
Logitech QuickCam E3500 Webcam -Works
Sleep - Works
Time Machine - Not Tested

I recommend to use IDE mode for HDD since it will boot faster then with AHCI.

WIFI drivers for 10.5 (May work on 10.6):
RTL8187B
RTL8187L
RTL8187B Patched
(I don't know which version the WNIC is so you gotta try them out and see if it works).

Warning:
DSDT file included in package may not work for you, in that case remove it from EXTRA folder and make your own.

If you can't boot into OSX after installing a kext or DSDT then use Rebel EFI cd to boot into OSX and remove problematic file.

You will have an folder Mac OSX Install Data on your HDD, just ignore it.

Notes:
Psystar removed Rebel EFI cd from their server so i uploaded it to mediafire.

Updated in V2:
Removed some kexts and added some files.

To be updated in V3:
Better DSDT & Make it work with Empire EFI instead of Rebel EFI.

If you need kexts you can download some x64 kexts HERE.

My Mediafire folder with SL Stuff Here

Have fun

I guess what you mean is a Disabler like NullCPUPowermanagement.kext - and you should not need it, as your fixed DSDT includes a fix to enable Intel speedstep - you can check if it works using some utilty that shows you if the frequency is changing.
If it does - something more you can add to your "working-section".

I just wonder why you have OpenHaltResart.kext and OSXRestart.kext at the same time? You usually do not need one and a half kext for the same purpose.

Anyway a good guide btw. - even with using psystar cd.^^

Not working for me :(

Hi,

I cannot seem to boot osx. I have a P5K-E MB with GT8800. I have tried also the guide on :
http://osx86sv.wordpress.com/2010/02...s-motherboard/

No mater what I do in BIOS I cannot boot with the psystar boot loader. I have 10.5.8 at the moment and when booting from the CD I am asked to insert the 10.6 install DVD which gets detected but cannot boot from it. I have tried selecting either IDE or AHCI mode for HDD to no avail.

I have just the barebone in my rig. 1 SATA HDD, GT8800, Logitech MX mouse, keyboard, bluetooth dongle(10.5.8 compatible), .. 10.5.8 is working wonderfully

I have selected all you BIOS settings but dont know what is "ASUS C.G.I = Disabled"?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
gvodop
