just click on the zip file. Run the installer and reboot. Sound will work after that.

Hey guys, you do have the option to boot in AHCI mode. Go in the BIOS and go to the second tab then go to setting configurations... ( this is from the top of my head) then highlight the second option...

As Zuz said it could be a hardware incompatibility that is causing this. All distros boot from IDE/ S-ata dvd drives however if the hardware isn't supported, it will not work. What are your specs?

change the jumper settings. Look on the back of your DVD drive and look at the jumper settings (next do the p-ata cable) and then just move the pin to the correct slave settings.
