New mobo and cpu equals trouble installing, need help

So my cpu and mobo went out on me and luckily I had a warranty from Fry's. So they upgraded me to:

Asus M3n-HT Deluxe 780a sli mobo and a AMD Phenom x3 2.3ghz (not bad since I had a dual core haha)

So I get the "still waiting for root device issue" and it's bugging the hell out of me. I went on the wiki and my mobo isn't on there yet so I am hoping to be the first to get it to work. I have my setup as: two s-ata hdd's and two p-ata hdd's with a s-ata dvd drive. I have the p-ata ide 1 set as master (that is my Leo drive). I have all the same settings as I did on my last rig (which had no problem installing osx86. So any suggestions? I have tried disconnecting all drives except my p-ata and s-ata dvd drive. I have tried all of these:

platform=X86PC -v

platform=ACPI -v

-x -v

-f -v

I have tried switching my SATA settings to AHCI mode however when I do that, that inactivates all sata configurations (when in BIOS only the to IDE ports are available no SATA ports are even listed) I am stuck any suggestions??

Ok after reconnecting all my hdd's I switched to AHCI mode and went to the boot menu to boot right off the dvd I can get in the installer however my SATA hdd's are shown as external hdd's and my pata hdd's don't show up at all. Any suggestions?
