hi roisoft or anyone else that can help,
can you reupload the patches.zip file posted in an earlier message on this topic? when i click on that link now, the file that downloads is not a valid zip file. i would like to patch up the loginwindow.app and CoreService.framework binaries to get them to work. thanks! |

Not sure if this is directly related to the Time Machine software update, but see my issue in this other thread: http://www.infinitemac.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=285&page=1#Item_4 . It is really annoying, as I don't know what's causing my machine to load OSX, but don't load the Finder menu bar (nor any other startup programs). Help, please!
Thanks |

@edgargoncalves:
i think the issue is related - the time machine software update includes updated loginwindow.app and CoreService.framework and these have cpuid's that have to be patched. there is a patches.zip link earlier in this thread, but it's not to a valid file. i have requested for the file to be re-uploaded. it might help you to run the patch if/whenever it's available again. |

@whodat:
Thanks, I had tried the patch before, but as you''ve said, it was invalid. I trust that a "real" loginwindow.app and the other file (i.e., taken from a Macbook running an up-to-date leopard) won't work either, right? those are the only ones I can access to. Unless there is a way to fetch those files from the Zephyroth's instalation disc - do you think it is doable? |

I suppose this patch can fix our troubles. It's on another thread on this forum:

You need to move the patches folder to the root of the hard drive. Now boot into single user mode with the -s flag and type:
Code:
mount -uw / cd patches ./patcher cpuid.txt reboot ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Correction - it works just fine! just a problem with the copy from Windows to MAc using TransMac (something to do with permissions, i suppose). copied the zip, unzipped it in the Mac shell and voila! It's done
