OS: Mac OS X Leo4All 10.5.2 (The only version i have i cant get a newer version but i have all the standalone updates to 10.5.6)

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 2.4GHz - Vanilla Kernal 9.2.2

okay, i now understand the frustration that some hack users go through. first i had a problem with the bios where the startup disk wasnt detecting the HDD i fixed this, because the bios was set in RAID mode, but i changed it to IDE and then it booted install disk. now this next step is where i am stumped, everytime i go to format my HDD it gives me these errors. Things like Underlying task reported failure on exit, and the most common one Filesystem verify or repair failed. And i get the same errors whatever Disk Utility option i try; Repair, First Aid, Erase. All of it. i am using a 80GB IDE Disk. Any help would be great

Alright now my computer is really bugging me i have tried to install OS X now 5 times and each time ive had a problem:

1st Time:
Couldnt format the IDE Drive, i just fixed that by replacing with a SATA disk and that all worked out.

2nd Time:
I partitioned it into 2 partitions, one was fat32 the other Mac OS Exteneded (Journaled) Format, then when i went to install with the minimum kexts (NVinject 0.2.1 and Vanilla Kernal) It froze at 2mins left of install

3rd Time:
I reduced the HDD to just one Mac OS Exteneded (Journaled) partition with the same kext and the install finished! then i got the "still waiting for root device" error, i tried many of the troubleshooting techniques in the "still waiting for root device" sticky thread. but still nothing, i tried booting in -X -V, -F -V, rd=disk0s1 -v, and none of them worked however i later worked out that it was actually disk0s2 that i was supposed to be trying to boot from but i had already reformatted my disk at this time :@

4th Time:
It froze at 2mins of install remaining AGAIN! even though i only had the one Mac OS Exteneded (Journaled) partition. Then i got fed up and went to sleep.

5th Time:
I tried again, and now when i put my install disk in i get this error before it enters even the install setup:

Code:
Debugger called: <panic>
Backtrace, format - frame: return address (4 potential args on stack):
7 messages with just jibberish like: 0x5bc9bda8: 0x12b0e1 (0x457a2c 0x5bc9bddc 0x1332a3 0x0
No mapping exists for frame pointer 0xbfffff78
backtrace terminated - invalid frame pointer

BSD proccess name corrosponding to corrent thread: launchd

Mac OS Version:
Not yet set

Kernal Version:
Darwin Kernal Version 9.1.0
I dont know what to do, i get that same error with both Leo4all install disks i have, im lost now. can someone please offer some guidance?

Thank-you

Woo i finally got through, i read some other posts they just said its luck, so i kept trying and it installed! then i got the "still waiting for root device" error AGAIN! and so i decided i would try to switch the connectors on the motherboard around and it worked. WTF? yeah i know. and then being an Intel Hack i thought i could update it, but then it froze while trying to update to 10.5.3 through the standalone installer i got from apples website and it killed my system. i knew i should of backed it up now i have to go through it all again! does anyone know why the installer froze even though im using intel?

please someone help, no one has said anything in regards to this thread, i would really like your feedback.

Cheers

personally i would go the vanilla route on this new system here a quick description of how to do it. Its really easy if you already have a working set up.
http://www.infinitemac.com/f36/bare-...661/page5.html

the issues your having seem to be config related so the first place i would check is the bios and really scrutinize how its set up switch off all devices you dont need or could possible prevent a successfull install. Turn of all com/serial ports etc.

How do I go about installing kexts on a retail install. Because I can't access my system as I don't have my graphics drivers installed. So do I have to do it via terminal in the install disc? And what are the commands to do that?

Cheers

by booting with the option of -x (safemode) you should be able to run in standard vesa modes. This would allow you to make any changes to a retail thats been restored to a hardrive
