Well after posting a poll that asked many users what release they favored most, 254 votes were factored and below are the standings thus far. Very interesting! =)

Which Mac OS X Distribution Would You Choose?

Zephyroth 10.5.2 Rev.2 [ 24 ] ** [8.08%]

Kalway Intel/AMD 10.5.2 [ 118 ] ** [39.73%]

Leo4Allv3 10.5.2 Intel/AMD [ 82 ] ** [27.61%]

JaS Intel / Leopard [ 35 ] ** [11.78%]

iATKOS / Leopard [ 23 ] ** [7.74%]

I like Retail Installs with Patches. [ 14 ] ** [4.71%]

Neither of them, I'm a chicken. [ 1 ] ** [0.34%]

[# of votes]

Although majority of voters were Intel users,be aware for AMD, the only three releases that can be discussed about are Leo4All, Zephyroth, Kalway (for Leopard-only). =)
So far, overall, Leo4All and Kalway dominates in the competition.

Unfortunately the poll was at InsanelyMac, thus different results than asking the real AMD Users here & keep the voting separated. ;-) Remember, zephyroths version is AMD only, not Intel/AMD.

Releases which support both Intel & AMD are more popular, ofcourse. :-)

True, however, in my last thread simialr to this topic, I had posted a link to the Poll where users would be able to vote, but that would obligate Infinite Mac users to sign up for an account with InsanelyMac. Not too sure whether or not these results would credible if the link was not posted on the previous thread. It is safe to say that Zephyroth and Leo4All for sure are the two best releases for AMD users. =)

Kalyways version is crap - difficult to install, only a few language packs, a lot of unnecessary 3rd party software, personal graphical fixes in the installation DVD and the system and at least - no PPC suport. Can't imagine why it should be the best image.
Zephyroths images are great - looking like an original OS X install DVD, easy to install, drivers are well sorted, no 3rd-party software. The only problem is that Toast and some other software isn't working since 10.5.2. The 10.5.1 RC2 image is the best until now.
Leo4All I havent' tested yet.

All installation have a problem that mounted Video DVD images couldn't be played with DVD Player or other software. Could anyone else test this on his installation? If it is an common problem it should be fixed.

Hallo naquaada,

you are right. Zeyphroth`s versions is great.

It seems, that the DVD player and Toast problem also is releated to optimal graphics
settings and to the kind of DVD drive that is in use. S-ATA DVD/CD drives are making
more problems, because these drivers have no burn support yet.

Perhaphs it make sense to use a DL DVD, so you don`t have problems with size of the OS X image - next version ?

No, dVader, the Toast problem has something to do with the 10.5.2 update he used. On 10.5.1 it's working, after applying the update or using a 10.5.2 DVD ist isn't.

Dual-Layer DVDs wouldn't be liked from the most users. If there's need for more space the PPC code could be removed, so no there are Universal Binaries anymore, only pure Intel apps. Try XSlimmer, it removes PPC code and optional unneccessary languages from Universal Binaries. It saves about 900 MB only on the standard system applications. iChat shrinks from 117 to 17 MB and is fully working! Some apps which need PPC code, f.e. Safari, are blacklisted and couldn't be slimmed. Bad is that nearly all Adobe Apps which are REALLY big are blacklisted.

In most of the 10.5.2 releases there is an issue with PPC emulation on AMD's. This includes my older releases .However this has been fixed now with v3

With one PC, I have had great success with Zephyroth's dvd while with mine, eddie's Leo4Allv3 has worked flawlessly. All the other versions were causing a lot of random crashes. None the less, props to everyone for a job well done on their respective releases.
