I uploaded Plasma Pong here. Use the maximal resolution of your monitor and set the particles to 1999. I have in 1600x1200 an average of 48-52 fps.
WinLinMac01: I don't like ego-shooters at all. The games I like most have a good game idea which is still easy to play. But the best ideas were already used in the 80's and 90's, so you'll find the classic games in pimped versions. I know, but these games are open source, so I play them once in a while.
I like mostly simulation games like Sim City and Need for Speed. =)) Thats a really good game you uploaded. Thank you very much! I wish the classic version was emulated for PC's. =) |

Sim City was first available on the Amiga in the 90's, and the predecessor of NFS was 'Test Drive' on the C64. Yes, it was a real predecessor, not only another car-driving game.
We had everything already. 'The Sims' were the 'Little Computer People' on the Atari 800 XL and C64 in the 80's. One of the first multiplayer strategy games was 'M.U.L.E' on the Atari XL in 1983. RPG games we had with the 'Ultima' Series on the C64 and Amiga - a very crazy version was the 'Elvira' series. The predecessor of 'Wolfenstein 3D' was 'Castle of Wolfenstein' on the C64. Games with Ego-perspective were f.e. 'The Eidolon' on the Atari 800XL and the C64. The greatest game ideas ever were 'Lemmings' and 'Worms' - from the Amiga. Blown-up 3D-versions were made for the PC. 'Networking games' were already on the CBM PET 2001 series (maybe beginning 80's) available, connected with the user-port. On the Amiga you could connect 'Lotus Turbo Challenge 2' via serial port to another Amiga and play simultaneusly with 4 players in split-screen mode. And even on the C64 is an actual game 'Wizard of Wor Tournament' which is for up to 8 real player - on an computer with 0,9 MHz. But two 4-player adapters are neccessary. Games using vector graphics (using software 3D engine) were available since the Atari 800XL. The Quake 4 source won't be available for quite some time. The only way for these games to run on that engine is to made as mods which would require Q4 to be installed.
