Download Latest Version from: http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=nexuiz&filename=nexuiz-242.zip&use_mirror=osdn

Nexuiz is a 3d deathmatch game that has been in development since the summer of 2002. The goal of the project is to create a high quality first person shooter that can be played freely across all platforms in one package: PC, Mac, and can be even included in Linux distributions. The game is entirely open source, with the sources of the engine, gamecode, map files, and compiling tools, all included with the download, all under the GPL license.

The gameplay is deathmatch with the most excessive possible speeds and weapons, giving incredibly intense fast paced action. Along with deathmatch, there are muitple gamemodes such as team deathmatch, capture the flag, domination, and many mutators and weapon options like rocket arena and instagib. The user can fight through the single player campaign, going through over 20 levels, or play online with our server browser.

Nexuiz is based on the Darkplaces engine, built on OpenGL technology. The darkplaces engine is an advanced Quake1 based engine developed mainly by Forest "LordHavoc" Hale, who has been working with the Quake1 engine for many years. A few of Darkplaces main features are Quake3bsp support, realtime lighting and shadowing, new particle effects, advanced menu system, and Md3 model support.

We have a very open development team, allowing online developers to help with the project in level design, modelling, or programming. Contact us by email, or our IRC channel #alientrap on irc.anynet.org, if you would like to help with development.

DoiX, are you using this on Mac OS X or some other operating system? Bhast2 and I were playing each other like for more than hour late last night, and he didn't appear to have any problems playing on Mac.

Hm, it's nothing for me, I don't like ego-shooters. I prefer small games with good ideas, like Zuma, Plasma Pong, Biofilm and of course all the LucasFilm games using ScummVM. Since I got Worms 3D on the Mac (it's on the demon), I really have a hate on 3D games. Worms Director's Cut on AGA Amigas was so great, I played it for hours. But this 3D stuff is only $%/&$§?!!

Sorry, me neither, I don't game.
I don't have the time to do it & I rather like to improve my knowledge instead. :-)

Puttabong, I agree with you. However, for the OSx86 community, it would be fun to see who is a better gamer, lol. I don't like to game either, and funny to say, this is the only game, I've played since the last two years. =) I like to gain more knowledge about the necessary things in life than some game.

Yet it is fun to play with people you have been blogging with in the last four months. - Cheers. =)

If you want to see a great freeware game, try Plasma Pong. It's a remake of the first video game ever but a real color explosion. Unfortunately it's not available official anymore due to copyright reasons, so you have to search the bay or the demon. There are seperate versions for PPC and Intel.

Have you tried Tremulous? That game is also based on the Quake-4 engine.

Nexuiz looks like Unreal Tournament. =))
