Some people have this problem: when you boot with the install DVD,
it loads the kernel, then the kexts and suddenly reboots. This is caused by Netkas bootloader. This bootloader is just a modification by Netkas of David Elliot's bootloader, The sources and a good description of his job are available at: http://tgwbd.org/darwin/boot.html Netkas, insted, hasn't made public the sources of his mod, so we cannot fix it by ourselves. Anyway, with the original bootloader by Elliot you don't have this isse (but the FSB is fixed @ 200MHz, if you need to modifiy it you must compile from sources).

HOW TO USE IT:

If you already have Leopard installed:

Just use startupfiletool or GRUB to install/use boot. Boot is the equivalent of Netkas boot_v8.

If you don't have Leopard installed:

You must replace CDBOOT in the ISO file. Not big deal: you open the ISO file and CDBOOT in a HEX editor (CDBOOT it's in the 'ISO' part of the DVD, you can see it when you open the DVD in Windows if you don't have MacDrive installed, or in /usr/standalone/i386 in the HFS+ part of the DVD). Now, search the contents of CDBOOT inside of the ISO. Then, replace that block with the contents of CDBOOT attached here.

Excuse me for my bad english!

My system only sometimes "reboots" (and sometimes it says "Calib(r)ation failed with 2 attempts"). Sounds strange, I know, I sometimes have to give it 3 or more tries to start, but sometimes everything works ;-)

Does this bootloader fix my problem?

crawle, no, this is not for your problem. Your problem seems unrelated to the bootloader.

laxattack: http://osx86.wikidot.com/en:how-to-s#toc5, replace boot_v8 with the boot provided in the RAR.
