well some good news
apple has released 10.6 sources
http://www.opensource.apple.com/release/mac-os-x-106/
and they include AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext and IOATAFamily.kext, the 2 offending kexts, so hopefully someone who knows what they are doing can find a quick solution.

Any luck booting 64 snow? I have been following this thread. ANd Hoping someone figure this out cause without 64 bit I may as well go back to leopard (more compatibility with my software)

hi again,,

anyone who's having the problem where the dvd drive isn't recognised in 64 bit mode should try the kext in this post

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=186609

it's the ioatafamily.kext at the top of page one,

i didn't use the script, or jmicron on my vostro 1500...
