iPC and ATI x1600 PCI-E

Ok so I can get the iPC distro to install boot no problem without selecting any video drivers. Now I'm running an ASUS x1600 256mb 71C2 video card and when I select the x1600 driver I boot to a part blue part grey screen and can't get any further. The same also applies if I select the x1000 71C2 driver, I'm going to try the natit driver next and I'll update you on how that goes but I was just wondering if anyone was able to get this same video card working on this distro and what kext you used.

ASUS EAX1600 Pro 256MB ASUS Works with manual modify the video kext with your id] Both All Resolutions fully working.

I found that on the OSx86 wiki so I am to assume I just edit the ATIRadeonX1000.kext install by default?

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice on the problem, but have also hit the same problem with very similar system specs. When I install without any graphics drivers I have a working system, but get bits of graphical corruption around the mouse pointer and can't change resolution/dual output. If I install with just my chipset and graphics drivers it boots through the startup process, but then I lose input on my monitors when it seems to reach the desktop.

Also: a bit creepy that you're having the same problem as me, at the same time, with similar specs and a similar username! I found another post of yours earlier that was about another problem we had in common, the ACPIPCI error on startup.

ya that was before there was the ppf patches for the ipc distro after that i had a problem of constant kernel panic after install no matter what options i picked but found out that was a faulty hard drive so i dunno

also the ASUS EAX1600 PRO 256mb is my exact card so i'm going to try that natit option now then try editing the kext

I have an X1600 Pro 256MB with ID 71c2 and it's working fine with iPC 10.5.6 (Server). But I changed a lot of things. Do you have 256 MB or 512 MB VRAM? I'm just trying to get Dual-Monitor support, and I made a modified ATITVOut.kext. But isn't really working yet.

i'm running 256mb vram. ok so I get QE/CI by simply adding my id to the x1000 kext but I still can't change resolutions and what not so i dunno........ i'm going to keep the edited kext but also going to try a driver cause 1024x768 is an ugly resolution when i want 1280x1024

So, I uploaded the X1600 kexts for ID 71c2 to Rapidshare. You can download them here. But unfortunately only 10 times, Rapidshare limit :-( So if anyone could upload them to another location this would be nice.

It includes all kexts for 10.5.6 and an optional ATiTVOut.kext. Installation instructions are included.

Heh, it's already 1:27 am here, but I wanted to upload the drivers before going to bed. Nothing is as frustrating as not working graphic drivers

Could you test if Quicktime 7.5 or higher runs smooth with DivX movies? If I scale them to high resolution (about 1500x1100 px) they need up to 90% on an Athlon 64 4000+.
