Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents about the kernel. In the new update a new kernel is installed. What I have always done to protect myself from having the working kernel wiped was; I renamed the mach_kernel to another name such as legacy_kernel, then in the com.boot.plist file located in the extra folder I entered the following.
Code:
<key>Kernel</key> <string>legacy_kernel</string> CPU: AMD Athlon 3800+ X2 Motherboard: Asus A8N-SLI Ram: 2 Gb DDR Video: PNY Nvidia 9800GT OS: 10.5.8, 10.6.2, Windows 7 |

SL Update 10.6.3 w Nvidia GT8600 shows blank screen
Hi all
SL 10.6.2 with Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT (10de:0402) works fine. Installing 10.6.3 the WindowServer loops at 100% and the screen keeps blank. Even booting in safe mode. Just replace /S/L/E/ NVD* and GeForce* with the older one, brings up the GUI, but without CI/QE. I found out, that A**le removed the GeForce8xxxGLDriver.bundle and add new GeForceGLDriver.bundle. But why this doesn't works with the 8xxx Series here? Tom BTW: I need to disable VoodooHDA, because that crashs the new kernel. Works fine with 10.6.2. |
