personally i would do a vanilla install what you need is a retail disc. I used 10.5.4 retail then you need to restore this to a hardrive...

yes the kext has to be added to the dvd as this is the only data you will be running when the system is trying to look for your chipset. Adding kexts to an image is quite easy the info is scattered...

to update you need to use tools to patch the updates so they will run on amd but if you update to the latest voodoo kernel this shouldnt be a problem dont quote me as i am still running 10.5.5

waiting for root device means a chipset issue this could simply be a master and slave issue with drives or lack of chipset drivers. But without knowing your chipset I cant answer this question....

your chipset is not supported by my distro you need to get the right kext (driver) for your chipset. If you are up to it look at the boot-132 methods as you can get it to load kexts up b4 the dvd...

just a nice simple tip always keep 2 copies of kernel on root i call 1 backup then if an update puts a new kernel on i just type backup -v -f at bootloader screen then recopy mach_kernel

Bare Naked Install On Phenom

Ok just to let you all know booted retail osx 10.5.4 performed install then updated via apple software update to 10.5.5 all with no patching thanx to the new kernel!!!!!
