Yeah, your System.kext really needs to match your running kernel. You'll have all kinds of issues if not.

I installed it and patched everything up with Marvin's. You pretty much have to have a working installation on a separate partition to be able to do this though.

You can install EFI on an AMD system same as intel. you just can't use the stock Apple kernel. Still have to use a hacked one.
