Optical Drive Issue; Is the Drive Dying?

So I've recently set up a new Hackintosh and everything is running nicely. I choose to use the GA-EP45T-USB3P this time around because of the better support for the chipsets. I haven't regretted it. Things actually work like they're supposed to with minimal hacking.

However I have run into a problem with my optical drive. Some of the time it works fine, it even burns much to my delight. But sooner or later it does this thing where it pushes the CD tray out and doesn't stop. The OS seems to think the tray is actually in and the component is "stuck" with the tray out while the motors continue to run.

The only way to stop this is to hit the button underneath the CD tray a couple of times and then manually push the tray back into the unit when the motors stop.

Usually if I wait for maybe five minutes or so I'll eventually hear a click and if I try to open the drive again it'll function normally. But I can't seem to figure out what triggers this.

Does anyone know if this is an OSx86 issue? Is my drive just going bad? Maybe I need to patch something in my DSDT file? Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Theta
