As I posted in another i7 thread:

It's your i7 processor causing the problem. I think you need to install the voodoo kernel and boot with the busratio=20 flag. You can add this into the com.apple.boot.plist to save typing it in on every boot.
Alternately once booted up you can replace the voodoo kernel with the one from this thread.

Unfortunately, you'll have to use the voodoo kernel until Apple starts supporting the i7.
