ATI Radeon HD 4870 will it work?

Hello everybody,

I want to build a system with ATI Radeon HD 4870. The question is will it work with iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal PPF5 Final or iATKOS 5i 10.5.6/10.5.6? I searched the forum but couldn't find an answer. If yes, and someone has got it configured, I'd be more than happy if they could explain how they did it.

Thank you all in advance,
krko

Hello everybody,

I found meanwhile drivers for Radeon cards here http://osx86.radeonhd.eu/index.php?cid=1 including this one MacOSX_10.5.6_radeon_hd_48x0_drivers.pkg. I assume it will work.
So my question is, when do I install this driver? Do I install OS X and after it's booted and all up I install this driver or what? In that case, which graphic card do I choose at the os x install?

Thank you,
krko

You install mac first with no graphics drivers and one its installed you then run the graphics drivers. (Or at least thats how i understand it).

Thank you.

Can anyone confirm from his experience that he got 4870 working with either ipc, iatkos, ideneb or xxx?

Thank you,
krko

It works with iDeneb 10.5.6 and Netkas 48xx Driver package.

Some bugs ... no dualscreen and still no support for DVI2VGA Adapter. Monitor must be connected with DVI2DVI. Search the web for "Netkas 4870"

Hello,

Ideneb has ATI 48xx Driver. But even when your distro has no Drivers, u chose no Driver during OSX Instal, boot into Safemode and then install the Driver.

When u have no Driver selectet during installation OSX use the VESA mode. A bit ugly, but it works

Thanks for the link but after I install the driver I get a load of lag?

thanks
