Hi,

I have the same dilemma... I have Realtek High Def. Audio 5.1 channel, and I just can't get it to work. My chipset is ALC0888. Does someone have any drivers, kexts, etc. etc. I am a huge noob when it comes to this so speak slowly and carefully (use lots of details if you can). Thank You. I have been told that the new 10.5.2 will have support of chipsets like mine, ALC0888, can someone confirm this? Hopefully all the channels will work and it will be out of the box... But for now, I am using leopard 10.5.1, and still love it, and I am sure 10.5.2 will be even better.

Thz again, and thanks to you Zephyroth for everything you have done.

I went with this thread to get my sound working. Download and install one by one using kext helper. Reboot after installing a kext.

I hope it works for you.

I've got the ALC883 (azalia driver) and this link worked for me: http://www.mediafire.com/file/teqcid...leHDA.kext.zip

Mind you on 10.5.8 but try it, can't kill anything!

I wouldn't be so sure about "it can't kill anything"... I got a working install of 10.6 on my Aspire E380. Audio was not working - so I installed the ALC888 package from the IPC 10.5.6 disc (which DID work for me with 10.5.6/8) - Now it won't boot (safe mode worked, but I wasn't sure exactly what installed, so I couldn't delete it). You never know what kind of dependencies or changes may be made in the background by installing something. Sure, a kext is ok, that can be fixed by a simple "rm -rf" command in single user mode, but be careful doing anything more than that - you CAN kill your system.

So, with that in mind, anyone know how you get the ALC888 chip on my MCP61/nForce 430 working in Snow Leopard ?

Try using VoodooHDA.kext. that worked for me when I used Realtek HD off of my motherboard
