This is a great list and I thank you for that =)

Its kinda sad because before I built my new computer I didn't know about OSX86. I have an amd enabled motherboard and its holding up great =) Lots of modifications though.

Thanks for the guide again!

hi! i'm nere here but have built 3 hackintoshes already. one of them is a very cheap, but efficient one. i used a Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2
everything runs out of the box, although you might to get a videocard and not rely on the built in graphics(intel GMA950). its a microATX, too drawback is it can only support up to 2gb of ram. but if you're going for cheap, i think this is the way to go.

Newbie

I do not understand, when you guys said it works right out of the box.... Does it mean, you do not have to use the Hacked OSX, and install from the Retail DVD? Just put the hardware together, and boot from Retail DVD????

Please enlighten me.

um, i'm not an expert okay, but i think by out of the box, it means that your hardware works 100% WITH the distribution os osx86 that you used.

so, i can say that my GA P35-DS3P works with Kalyway 10.5.2

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.3ghz Q8450
GIGABYE EP35-DS3R
4gb Corsair xms2 ddr800
512mb Palit Geforce 8600GT

Well P35DS3R it's good but not best i think my hardware is simply excellent

ASUS P5QL PRO iP43 iCH10R(SATA works out of the box,lan and audio in/out works with kexts)
MSI 8800GT 512MB
SATA DVD,SATA HDD,cheap PCI Realtec(out of the box)

I've flash bios from here this bios differ with small bytes it's fully safe.
So I install Retail 10.5.4 then update to 10.5.6 install pc_efi v9 bootloader and in my extra folder(may use /system/library/extensions) AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext AppleDecrypt.kext and I add IntelEnhancedSpeedStep.kext(which down cpu term 3-5 degrees).
Booting 9-13 seconds no warning no errors IntelCPUPowerManagment succesfully initialilized
I Think without this kext may work only reAL MaC so later i buy pci audio works out of the box if wish.

note by Puttabong: Please don't hesitate to add a thread recommending your hardware.

Well sound is only one vulnerable in this motherboard, microphone in works.multichanel not works.
I use from wiki Audio: Realtek ALC1200 - work with ALCInject.kext & AppleHDA.kext.
If network attansic is extra kext not rewriting any mac os kext, sound rewrite AppleHDA it's not good,so i planned later buy compatible pci audio that worked out of the box.

Puttabong What did you mean? I've use usual boot132 flash and installing from hdd,may use iTKOS V5I 10.5.5 for write Retail 10.5.4 to EFI GUIDE volume.Of cource AHCI enabled and some other cmos setting,if wish i can post them or attach asus cmos profile file.

Both cpus listed are quad core and expensive. Is there a cheaper alternative that would still give good performance?
